Washington Borough's collective thanks go out to the thirty people who spent part or all of this past Friday and Saturday volunteering their time at the Washington Borough Park and Pool. The volunteers cleaned, scraped, sanded and painted the pool buildings and basketball backboards; then weeded, trimmed and mulched the gardens, removed graffiti and touched up chipped paint on the grandstand seating. Most people stayed for hours, some stayed for the entire day, and some spent both days at the park. It was a good, solid show of community and valuable volunteerism.
Special thanks also to the generosity of Sherwin Williams, the Kiwanis and the Washington Business Improvement District (BID), who donated paint, supplies and/or monetary contributions. It was encouraging and satisfying to have so many community members contribute valuable weekend time to their community. Great job!
