  1. Regular garbage will be collected in all areas on Fridays, limited to two 32 gallon containers, which may be placed curbside. For the Route 57 - East and West Washington Ave. Containers should be placed curbside  after 6:00 P.M. on Thursdays or before 6:00 A.M.on Friday mornings.  For all other locations garbage and recycling must be curbside before 7:00 A.M. of the collection day.  Stickers are available from Borough Clerk’s office for extra bags at a cost of $2.00 each.

  2. Please note the State of NJ DEP has passed a ban on the disposal of Televisions, and all personal computers – including desktop, notebook and laptop computers as well as computer monitors beginning January 1, 2011 in regular garbage.

  3. The Borough of Washington is now accepting Scrap Iron & Metals. For further details please check our website www.washingtonboro-nj.org or call the Municipal Office at 908-689-3600 Ext. 119.

  4. Vegetative waste collection begins May 6 and ends on Nov.25, 2014.  All yard trimmings or vegetative waste and / or leaves must be in Kraft-type, biodegradable vegetative waste bags or in a covered 32-gallon capacity heavy-duty plastic or galvanized reusable containers (NO PLASTIC BAGS). Container weight shall not exceed 60 pounds. (Do not put any branches or garbage in containers with leaves or vegetative waste.) DUE TO NEW STATE STORM WATER REGULATIONS ALL LEAVES MUST BE CONTAINERIZED – DO NOT PUT ANY LEAVES IN THE STREET.  

  5. Chipping of branches / brush is scheduled three times a year as indicated by “C” on the calendar. Place branches no larger than 4” in diameter, butt end out curbside on the dates indicated as “C”.  Do not place out any branches beyond dates indicated on schedule; each area will only have chipping done once starting that following Monday. If branches fall as a result of a storm during a period when no chipping is scheduled, please call the Borough Hall at 689-3600 Ext. 119 to arrange for off-schedule pick up of the branches.

  6. Christmas trees will be collected Jan. 5 - Jan. 16, 2015 only weather permitting. Please have your trees at curbside in a timely manner for chipping. There will be no extension on Christmas tree pick-up beyond the dates specified on the calendar. Disposals will be the responsibility of residents after that date.
